It’s essentially thin plastic over fabric. So on the edges, where it has gotten caught on things, it is showing cheap design. Still protects the device well. Still structurally sound. But it’s starting to look more like a junky replica than an old book. For $50, I honestly expected better.

How comr? Because all it takes is for you to drag your fingernail across the surface for the faux, tissue thin leather to rip and flake off, leaving the bare foam/fabric underneath.

The stitching is excellent, the gold foil designs and the inner pocket are all great – while the case is a bit heavy, it is fantastic to hold, giving you the illusion of reading a real hardcopy book.

If only the faux leather covering wasn’t so cheap, I can see myself using this case for years. It is very comfortable to hold, and looks gorgeous! Sadly it can last five minutes, should any blunt or sharp object get pushed into or scraped across the cover. The flaking can easily occur simply by the reader resting the csse against a surface, or your own hands. In my case, the damage began with the corners and the edge where I hold it.

Unless you want to hang onto a case that has rips and fleabites all over it within hours of ordinary use, look elsewhere for a fake book cover.

What is not so appealing is how heavy it is. I expected weight, just not so much. It is also difficult to read one handed because the cover has a weird stiff spine that reminds me of a vertical ditch. Yes, a ditch. My last Verso had a soft spine that was easy to fold back and made reading one handed easy and comfortable. With this one the cover is either too far over or not far enough, there is no “sweet spot”. Trying to read one handed with the cover open but not folded back is also awkward and uncomfortable since it tends to flop around.

There is nothing to hold this cover shut, no magnet or elastic, so when it is closed and laid flat the top cover often extends farther than it should. A dead give away that it isn’t really a book and let’s face it, part of this cover’s appeal is that it is suppose to look like a book right?

My last Verso had actual stitching accenting the outside covers. This one looks like it was glued. Which it must have been because there is no stitching on the outside to hold the brown spine and corner pieces to the blue peacock patterned covers. Major bummer. It also had a chemical smell that took WEEKS to dissipate.

I paid a good chunk of hard earned money for this cover and in the end I laid down even more money to replace it because it was such a disappointment. Save your money and keep looking. You deserve better.
